Betty A. Maury

Ms. Maury brings a behind-the-bench perspective to every case. She served as a senior judicial law clerk to a district judge in Jefferson Parish’s 24th Judicial District Court for a decade. There she provided comprehensive advice and legal analysis in hundreds of jury trials, bench trials, and motion hearings. This experience offers her a keen insight into various aspects of civil law and guides her practical approach to solving legal problems.

Ms. Maury also has trial experience, most recently practicing as a misdemeanor trial attorney for the Indigent Defender Board for the Parish of Jefferson. Ms. Maury also maintained a prior private civil practice, primarily focused on domestic litigation, estate planning, real property rights, and open accounts. Mrs. Maury’s practice areas of emphasis at the firm are Estate Planning, Successions and Trust Litigation, Interdictions, Bankruptcy, Commercial Litigation, and Administrative Law.

Throughout her career, Ms. Maury has been actively involved in both the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Jefferson Bar Association, developing and fostering relationships throughout the bench and bar. Notably, Ms. Maury has been honored by each, receiving the Jefferson Bar Association’s first ever Outstanding Member Award in 2022 and receiving the Outstanding Young Lawyer Award from the Louisiana State Bar Association in 2017.

Ms. Maury was born and raised in Jefferson Parish, primarily on the Westbank. She graduated from L.W. Higgins High School in Marrero in 2001. Thereafter, she graduated from Concordia University of Wisconsin and Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. She volunteers regularly with legal aid organizations. She is a widow of a fallen firefighter and has two sons. She is also the proud owner of an unmannered chocolate lab mix.
